Add Anticipation for Added Attendance

In Auction Recaps, Great Ideas, In the Press

Many people ask me, “How can I get more people to attend my event?”

My answer, “Add anticipation with an exciting element to your night that they won’t want to miss.”

That is exactly what Call to Safety did at their event on May 11, 2016.  It was a Wednesday night and they wanted to get their attendees to come and learn more about their new identity.  The night was called UNITE: A Night of Transformation.  They have used the UNITE theme many times, but this year was special.  It was a night to transform from Portland Women’s Crisis Line, an outdated name for their wonderful organization to Call to Safety, a more inclusive name for their great work.  They serve more than the Portland Metro area, they serve men, women, children, the LGBTQ community, and are more than a crisis line, they are advocates speaking out against domestic and sexual violence.

Withholding the new name drew a great crowd who was thrilled to learn more about their new identity.  It was also a crowd that supported their organization both through their excitement and their generosity.  (It was also a huge relief to the staff who had successfully kept this brand secret for months! – Kudos, staff!)

One of my favorite parts of the night was having a social media expert on-site to change all the social media in REAL TIME!  As the name was announced, we encourage everyone to take a moment and take a photo with the new brand and to add our new hashtag to their shout outs!   Not only is this a great way to get noticed on social media but it made for a fun moment of sharing at the event.

The had such a great event, they were featured on the Portland Society Page.

Everyone deserves a life free of domestic and sexual violence
