When it comes to your event we like to use strategy! We say it all the time. Whether we are looking for live auction packages that drive revenue or planning a first time event, we want to ASK our bidders and guests what they want on their fun night out. While they may be supporting your organization, remember this is their evening of entertainment. One of the easiest ways to get that information is to Survey your Audience.
Great idea, Artisan! So what do I put in this survey?
Start with a few demographic questions:
What is your age?
18 - 25
26 - 35
35 - 45
45 - 55
55 +
I’m excited to participate in (mark all that apply)
Silent auction
Live auction
Raffle and Games
I want to make a meaningful contribution
Up next, ask some basic question about preferences for the event night (this is great for first time events):
I prefer events on:
Sunday
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Saturday
The best time for me to arrive at an event is:
11:30am - 1:00pm
5:00pm
5:30pm
6:00pm
Some other time: ___________________
I prefer to attend events:
In-person
Virtually
Then, you can get into specific questions for your auction packages within your survey:
What items do you most look forward to bidding on?
Travel - send me somewhere fun!
Dinners - I’m a total foodie!
Wine - I need to restock my cellar!
Restaurants - I love getting a taste of the town!
Other: tell us what you want! _________________________
Which location would you choose to travel?
Mexico
Bali, Indonesia
Tuscany, Italy
A Castle in France
Somewhere else: _______________________________
How much time do you have for vacation?
4-5 days
One week
As long as I want
Specifically: _________________________
If I were to win the raffle, I would want:
CASH! Show me the money!
First dibs on the live auction packages
A choice of 3-4 fabulous vacation packages
Something else: ___________________________________
A survey is a great way to get to know a new crowd's preference for the timing of the event or to ask your guests very specific questions about consignment packages you may be able to secure. If you find that folks are really interested in bidding on a castle in France over any other location, then maybe it’s best to secure that package and skip the others in favor of a dinner or wine package. The secret to great items is knowing your audience! As you learn more about their likes and dislikes you can create packages that will really boost your bottom line. So don’t be shy, ASK the questions you need the answers to so your event will really shine!
